The bearish GRIZZLY 4 (4 Berth) is back and packs design and performance tweaks found in our highly popular CUB and GOBI models. The third generation GRIZZLY 4 is a high spec two layer tent with a waterproof and flame retardant outer rainfly and breathable inner sleeping area. The rain-fly is waterproofed to a high 4000mm Hydrostatic Head (over 2.5x the British Standard for fabric to be deemed water repellant). The outer rain-fly is now flame retardant to CPAI-84 standard*. This 3 season camping tent can be pitched (and packed) faster than an equivalent pole and sleeve tent, thanks to the innovative all-in-one FlashFrame™ Pitch and Pack System.
IMPORTANT INSTALL NOTE. Minimum User Recommendation: The equipment has been designed for speed and efficiency straight-out-the-case. That is why, as with all our tent models, the GRIZZLY 4 tent equipment (FlashFrame™, Outer Rainfly and Inner Tent) is supplied pre-connected, as an all-in-one pitch system. The GRIZZLY by nature is a beast and it takes one to handle it! Due to the combined size and weightier FlashFrame™ system used on the GRIZZLY 4, and to ensure the hub is lifted high enough to safely operate the FlashFrame™, we recommend a minimum operator height of 5’8″ (173cm) with good upper body strength. Otherwise users may find operating the GRIZZLY FlashFrame™ challenging (straight-out-the-case that is!). And whilst the majority of campers benefit from the speed and ease of the all-in-one pitch system, we offer simple tips that have proven to help those who may find pitching straight-out-the-case challenging. Please contact us for assistance, we are happy to help, or consider the smaller GOBI 3 or CUB 2 FlashFrame™ tent as an alternative.
The FlashFrame™ is an exoskeleton frame system which enables the user to quickly pitch the inner and outer layers together, at the same time, in seconds. So no more pitching the inner tent first and then the outer, which can be time consuming and especially problematic during wet conditions. The FlashFrame™ solves this problem!
*NB. The GRIZZLY 4 requires one fiber pole (supplied) to be threaded through the porch sleeve – the FlashFrame™ does all the rest!
The GRIZZLY 4 offers a self contained bug-free sleeping area suitable for 3-4 persons. A separate roomy porch area suitable for campers needing sheltered storage for muddy boots and additional gear. The porch area is complete with two PVC Windows with fully zippable internal privacy screens – perfect for illuminating the inside of your tent especially on a rainy day! The internal Loft Storage Net and Side Storage Pockets (max load 2kg) are ideal for storing mobile phones, keys or other light weight accessories for easy access.

FOOTPRINT GROUNDSHEET PROTECTOR – Increase the life of your tent and protect the underside of your integrated groundsheet from abrasion and general wear and tear by using a compatible FootPrint GroundProtector. Using a FootPrint Ground Protector helps increase ground insulation too. The FootPrint GroundProtector is tailored 10cm smaller than the integrated groundsheet to stop rain water channelling between the two layers.
CANOPY POLE SET – Transform your outer front door into a canopy awning using the CANOPY POLE SET. Should be used on a still and ideally a dry day. Comes complete with foldable powder coated steel poles, guy ropes and pegs.
EXTRA GUY KIT – Reinforce your GRIZZLY tent using the Extra Guy Kit. Complete with 4 velcro banded guy ropes and heavy duty ground stakes. Fasten the velcro banded webbing to your FlashFrame system to offer increased stability and protection during windier conditions. Highly recommended if you are travelling away, or as a precaution should you experience unexpected inclement and breezier weather conditions. Ensure your tent is fully guyed out even on a still day.
SAFETY NOTICE: Camping in windy conditions is not recommended and should be avoided for safety reasons. Check the recommended usage guidelines in the instructions. Always check wind and gust strength forecasts prior to your excursion. Winds may appear calm but gust strength may be very high. Wind and gusts can be extremely destructive and can damage temporary shelters such as tents and awnings not covered under warranty.
*FIRE SAFETY NOTICE: A flame retardant fabric does not certify that the fabric or tent is fire proof. Fabric will still burn if exposed to a naked flame. Flame retardant fabrics will only reduce the rate in which fabric will ignite and burn. Great care should always be taken when camping. Keep heat sources away from the tent. In the event of a fire, evacuate the tent immediately. Specialist coatings (waterproofing and flame retardancy) will diminish over time and with usage.

I ordered my Grizzly 4 last year and is one of my favourite and best tents i’ve used and i’m an avid camper of 35+ years! The quality and design is excellent. It’s easy for me to pitch (though I am 6ft tall. My wife however is 5ft5 and does not have the reach to operate it unless she stands on the travel step we take with us and unclips some of the clips at the top, then she can pitch it ok). It’s very quick compared to previous pole and sleeve tents we’ve used with the advantage both the outer and inner layers pitch together which has been a big advantage when we’ve setup in the rain. I camp with my wife and our dog and we’ve managed to escape 10+ times now for the odd week and long weekends and experienced some wet and windy conditions and the tent has held up brilliantly. It is spacious for a 4 person dome tent and we particularly like the loft storage and additional side storage which is always helpful and the rear electric access has come in useful too on the few occasions we have pitched alongside hookup points. The zippers are also high quality and smooth and don’t snag like we’ve found on other tents. I also ordered the canopy awning set which is practical for extending the doorway and the extra guy kit which we’ve used a couple of times and is quick to install and helps support the tent. The pack size is larger and slightly heavier than my other pole and sleeve tents of a similar size, but a small compromise for the ease and speed of setup and take down. We understand from subsequent emails, the gusts at the location (Brands Hatch on the 20th September 2025) exceeded the user recommendation to ensure performance, which would explain the issues you had experienced. The actual recorded gusts at the time were 43-56 mph (click here), which as per the Beaufort Wind Scale is the equivalent to Gale Force to Storm Force gusts. We also understand only the standard pre-attached guy ropes were used (suitable for wind and gust conditions up to 25 mph), and the Extra Guy Support Kit (optional extra) was not acquired, which offers additional support and stability to the equipment in conditions exceeding the recommended. Please also reference the User Guide for advice and tips on preparing for breezier conditions – link to our guide is available in your order email, and there is also QR code with link supplied in the carry case instructions. For anyone reading this, we recommend the Extra Guy Support Kit (sold separately) for additional support and stability to the equipment in breezier conditions exceeding the recommended. Most users are fairweather campers and therefore the Extra Guy Support Kit is not necessary. However if planning a trip around weather is not always possible, the Extra Guy Support Kit may be crucial for your needs. Note: wind or gusts of 30 mph is borderline Moderate Gale Force conditions. Therefore, we recommend, not least for safety reasons, but to minimise damage to equipment, to avoid winds (including gusts), exceeding 25 mph where possible. Bought for a motorbike bike tour of Scotland. There were only two of us going and would be carrying a lot of stuff for our 2 week stay. I needed a tent that would stop midgies getting in, stay dry in the wettest of conditions and be spacious enough for 2 people with room for all our gear. The porch was big enough for all our wet stuff and enabled us to do a brew and breakfast without getting wet outside. Plenty of pockets which were handy for sorting things we need to hand such as smidge, torches, toiletries etc. very easy to put up and take down tho I’m too short at 5ft it is doable but left it to my 5’11” friend. It was just the right size to get on my bike. I only have a 125 intruder but across the back seat it didn’t come passed the panniers so I wasn’t overly worried about overhang. The tent did us 7 nights in very wet days/nights and rides. The only downside I had was it didn’t last when I came off my bike. The road shredded my lovely new tent 😆. So I am now tent less. But before it hit the road it was perfect for our trip. I do recommend you but the ground sheet though.

We bought our Grizzly 4 last year and we used it many times already.
Very spacious and comfortable. Well designed including the porch with windows so even on a rainy day we don’t feel trapped inside the tent. Love the side pockets and the place for backpacks in the tent. Never experienced condensation in the tent when we wake up in the morning due to great ventilation. Easy few minutes set up. Very durable and 100% waterproof, also it is very safe during of storms.

A brilliant tent. Solfest 2024 in north Cumbria in the severe high winds and tons of rain and it stayed up even without using the extra high wind guy ropes I had as a precaution. A small bit of rain at the front entrance in a morning but down to condensation in a morning. I’m 5.3” so took a fold-up kitchen stool to reach the top to push the connectors together which is tough but a tall tent neighbour did it in the end as the winds were high but I did do it in my garden when it was calm. A good solid tent. Lots of tents went down at the festival but mine was solid and secure. Felt warm at night too and a good height inside. Highly recommend.

The minimum user height recommendation for the larger GRIZZLY 4 is 5’8″ with reasonable upper body strength. We can offer tips on how to pitch the equipment if you are borderline in height or do not quite have the strength in your arms. One of those tips is to use a portable fold-flat stool as Kirsty alludes to – like some people use in their kitchens to access the top cupboards. The reference to small bit of rain, is most likely condensation that has displaced and fallen into the porch area. Condensation build up is inevitable and can not avoided unfortunately, but our tents do a good job of minimising the levels and condensation entering the sleeping area thanks to the double layer design and side vents. Winds and rain hitting and moving the tent fabric may cause condensation droplets on the inside of the rainfly to displace and fall into the porch area, but should be minimal and not cause discomfort. Have just spent 14 days in Scotland with my Grizzly 4, what a fantastic tent, i have had many tents in the past but this beats them hands down, the ease, of erecting the tent is truly fantastic, fast and easy, even my friend who has a Khyam biker tent was impressed with the design and size of the tent, it would comfortably take 3 with kit even 4 with a little less space of course, but you do have the porch area that kit could be stored, i had many comments from other campers interested in the design, i had a Vango 350 which i used on my bike, the Grizzly is a little larger in pack size but with panniers on the bike the pack size does not poke out any further than the panniers so no problems, i have yet to use it on my bike yet but will be going to Gloucestershire on the bike next month, my trip to Scotland was in my MGA packed on the rear boot rack, i would certainly recommend this tent for touring on a motorbike , the price is fantastic to for a quality tent, you cant go wrong with a Grizzly 4

I’m slightly overdue in contacting you but I just wanted to say that after eventually settling for the Grizzly I could not have made a better choice. My daughters and I did 2 festivals in it during the summer and I then took it away for a solo motorcycle tour of the North East. What a fabulous product and I really couldn’t be happier with it. Everything about it from the overall quality, ease of use and waterproofing are perfect and I really can’t fault it any way. And……………the customer service is pretty damn excellent too !!!!

I am very pleased with my Grizzly tent. I had quite specific requirements – a tent I can erect on my own, with good living space, and the ability to sit inside it in a chair in the event of bad weather or early darkness so I can read etc in comfort. I found the instructions very clear – so rare these days, and customer support (Marion) was quick and helpful – don’t worry nothing wrong with the tent I just needed some out of stock extras that she found for me! I am so impressed with my Grizzly.my first trip out I went fly fishing in Wales staying for 3 nights near Brecon. The first night and day it was incredibly wet and windy, but the Grizzly was faultless, staying perfectly dry. Its so easy to put up and pack away, what a fabulous tent, highly recommended. A fantastic tent. I bought this tent for a weekend away at the MotoGP at Silverstone with my son. We are both 6 foot 4 and there was plenty of room for us both. The weather was very wet, windy with thunder and lightening to the extent the racing was cancelled. The tent was very sturdy in the wind and did not leak at all even in torrential rain. Very easy to put up and take down would highly recommend.

Bought this item for August bank holiday. This is my first tent. It is easy to set up as same as the demo does. It was sturdy during the first night with 28km/h wind. The only problem is the rain proof is not as good as it says 2.5 times of the British standard. The inner side of outer layer did get wet after a light shower.

Condensation is commonly mistaken for a leaking tent. Condensation will form on the inside of the outer rain-fly. Unfortunately there is little that can be done to avoid condensation inside a tent. Condensation will vary based on pitch location, temperature, the number of people sleeping (and exhaling warm air), how ventilated the tent is during use plus more variables. Full details on condensation is supplied in our How-To guide. Condensation in single layer tents can be a big problem, however our tents are double skinned (breathable inner tent, and separate outer rain-fly) to help minimise condensation dripping back inside the tent and the sleeping area. Awesome tent!! It was for a long weekend yet we always manage to pack for a week! It is noticeably bigger inside than my mates gobi. The storage pockets are very useful and there are plenty along either side and the ceiling. Partnered it with the extra guy accessory we rode out very windy and wet conditions up near the Lakes. Kept us dry and hardly any condensation too! Unfortunately too windy to use the canopy awning poles. Would not hesitate recommending slumit! ?

Very pleased with this tent. I also have a Slumit Cub which we love and have used lots and performs superbly, but wanted a bit more space when camping with my partner and our dog along with all our cooking gear. It was a close call between this and the gobi. This is remarkably bigger once it has been pitched than it looks in the photo. A good size 4 man tent. I am about 5ft 7 and I don’t have an issue with using the frame but if I was shorter then I could imagine it could be a little harder, as to operate it correctly you need to lift it as high as you can reach, and does require some strength. The information and tips provided in the guides are very helpful. The zippable window screens are great and better than other tents i’ve owned, and the tent has bags of storage. Good job. ?
